Archmage Kalisial and Magistrate Stalomer share a decades-old wager over a powerful magical necklace, decided once a year by a game of smickleboard. Kalisial always wins. Despite years of study and practice, Stalomer has never claimed victory and now, nearing the end of his life, wants a fair chance just once. He believes Kalisial’s uncanny success comes from three enchanted items she uses during the match: a wig that hides her scalp, a pair of gilded spectacles, and an exquisite onyx-and-silver game board set with ruby pieces.

Stalomer has commissioned perfect replicas and hires the party to secretly swap the originals before the evening’s game. From seven to nine o’clock, during a lavish garden reception at Kalisial’s palace, the heroes must infiltrate, mingle, and replace the artifacts without raising suspicion. The wig and spectacles are hidden somewhere in the palace, while the board sits on display in the garden. Take what treasure you can, but be subtle — if Kalisial notices before play begins, the bet (and your reward) is off.
