Description: Step into the shoes of a mosaic artist and prepare to decorate the walls of the Royal Palace of Evora! The Azul Tournament invites you to compete in a beautiful game of drafting coloured tiles, strategic planning, and clever pattern building. Elegant in its simplicity but offering wonderful tactical depth, Azul can be learned in 5 minutes flat, making this tournament perfectly suited for casual players and seasoned artisans alike! Please note that players must strictly use the solid (coloured) side of the player board for all tournament games.
This event operates using a No-Elimination format, ensuring every participant remains paired across all active rounds. You will compete in 4-player games (or 3-player tables with 7 Factory Displays instead of 9 if player counts require it), earning Match Points based on your finishing position each round.
First place receives 3 Match Points, second receives 2, third receives 1, and fourth receives 0.
Alongside Match Points, your in-game score track totals will be recorded as your Quality Score. From Round 3 onwards, you will be paired directly against players with similar tournament standings, sorted by Match Points first and Quality Score second.
Beautiful patterns, draft manipulation, and perfectly placed tiles await. Will your mosaic be crowned a masterpiece?
🧱 Tournament Schedule & Format:
• 10:30 – 11:00: Registration and Table Allocation
• 11:00 – 11:45: Round 1
• 12:00 – 12:45: Round 2
• 12:45 – 13:45: Lunch Break
• 13:45 – 14:30: Round 3
• 14:30 onwards: Dependent on final player counts (see below)
📦 Bring Your Copy: We kindly ask that players bring along their own copy of Azul if they have one, just in case extra sets are required on the day!
⏱️ Finish Times:
• If attendance is under 16 players: The tournament will naturally conclude after 4 rounds. Round 4 runs 14:45–15:30, with Final Scores and Prize Giving wrapped up by 16:00.
• If attendance is 16 to 24 players: The tournament runs the full 5 rounds. Round 4 runs at 14:45, Round 5 runs at 15:45, with Final Scores and Prize Giving wrapped up by 17:00.
